Job Summary
We are seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our team! As a Medical Secretary, you will be responsible for greeting patients who come in the door, checking them in, and pulling relevant patient files or obtaining new patient information. You will also answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate place, mail or fax documentation to the appropriate offices, and maintain excellent medical and correspondence records, as appropriate. The ideal candidate is very organized, has strong customer service and interpersonal skills, and works well independently and within a team.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients who walk through the door
- Ascertain their needs and get them checked in
- Pull their medical records, or take a new patient history
- Answer the phone and schedule appointments or answer patient questions
- Maintain comprehensive medical records, as needed
Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Familiarity with basic computer programs, such as the Microsoft Office suite
- Previous office experience desired

Dr. Debbie Field graduated with honors from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Salus University. Her clinical training included ocular disease and management at Hahnemann Medical Center in Philadelphia, contact lens care at Irving Gurwood, OD in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, The Eye Institute with Drs. Silbert and Spinelli, and Pediatrics and The Eye Institute in Philadelphia. As a member of the Gold Key Honor society, she performed home eye care visits to residents in the Philadelphia area.
After graduating, Dr. Field moved to New Jersey where she started her practice in Brick. In addition to prescribing glasses and contact lenses, she excels in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect the eye such as diabetes, hypertension and autoimmune disease. She treats eye infections, dry eye, glaucoma, and removes ocular foreign bodies and follows patients with macular degeneration.
