Located on the high plains of Eastern New Mexico Mental Health Resources. Inc. has been providing behavioral health and substance use care since 1975 and currently serves 5 counties and an area of approximately 14,000 square miles. Mental Health Resource, Inc. provides a wide array of outpatient clinical, psychiatric, substance abuse, and ancillary treatment services to 1,000’s of clients each year seeking a better way of life through recovery.

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Prescriber Job Summary:

Assists in the provision of patient care including patient evaluations, and health screenings specific to Medication Assisted Treatment. Supports behavioral health and psychiatric providers with patient care. by communicating effectively with the nursing staff, counselors and, other staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Examination of all patients upon admission, including, without limitation, initial, and review with patients of admissions-related laboratory results.
  • Order and review labs as needed and appropriate for each patient’s care.
  • All examinations shall be performed consistent with the applicable rules and regulations for treatment programs/facilities in the state of New Mexico.
  • Prescribing and management of MAT medications as appropriate and documentation of prescription and medication changes when made.
  • Follow up and continuing MAT service appointments with patients prescribed medication.
  • Referral of patients to primary care providers for medical conditions other than narcotic addiction and to behavioral health therapy and ancillary services as appropriate.
  • Assist with training of nursing staff specific to MAT services, as needed and appropriate.
  • Provides reports as requested and required.
  • Attends weekly staff meetings with counselors or documents in the patient record alternative.
  • Review, and sign all appropriate clinical documentation forms.
  • Maintains competency of evidence-based practices, skills, and interventions via conferences or webinars and attending training.
  • Maintain HIPPA and client confidentiality at all times.
  • Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.

Education/Licensure/Certification: Current and active state license as a Nurse Practitioner (CNP), MD, DO, Prescribing Psychologist, in the state of New Mexico, or able to obtain licensure prior to starting the position. Current and active DEA license schedule II, III C with the ability to prescribe buprenorphine or willing to register to become a DATA 2000 provider.

Required Knowledge: Must be computer literate and have knowledge of all Microsoft products, email, and use of Electronic Health Record systems (training on specific system used will occur post hire).

Preferred Knowledge: Three years of psychiatric medication prescribing and/or MAT services.

Experience Required: One year of experience in the field of Substance Abuse.

Hourly Rate Starting at $50.00/HR
