Middle School Hebrew Teacher (part-time)

The McGillis School, an established, independent K-8 school in Salt Lake City, Utah has an opening for a part-time Hebrew language teacher for Middle School grades beginning in August of 2025.

Position Description

In addition to a demonstrated capacity for best teaching practices and evident joy in working with students, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the physical, social, and emotional needs of students. The ideal candidate for this position will ensure that our Hebrew curriculum and comprehension-based language-learning philosophy is upheld and implemented effectively. 

Responsibilities: 

• Create and sustain a learning environment based on the mission and values of the school.  
• Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding children as a priority.
• Implement our existing Hebrew curriculum.
• Utilize well-reasoned lesson plans and units from within the scope and sequence of the existing curriculum.
• Manage a positive and structured learning environment, differentiate instruction as needed.
• Communicate consistently with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
• Attend and participate positively in faculty meetings and school events.
• Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.
• Be patient, positive, and find joy in the journey of promoting a lifelong love of learning (limud l’shma).

The ideal candidate will have:

• Fluency with the Hebrew language. 
• A background in Hebrew and/or language instruction.
• Experience working with Middle School students.
• A college degree in teaching, a related subject area, or equivalent professional experience.
• A growth mindset and comfort in taking risks.  
• Familiarity with culturally competent teaching and the ability to build an inclusive and equitable community.
