Mother's Day Out Director

Purpose:

Direct all aspects of the Mother’s Day Out program for teachers and children enrolled in the during the program hours on Tuesday and Thursdays.  Develop a strategy that connects families to River City Community Church and leads children to a faith in Jesus Christ.

Functions and Responsibilities

• Closely monitor each classroom and stand in as a teacher when necessary


• Meet the immediate needs of the teachers in regards to supplies, assistance with children, sick or injured children, etc.


• Organize scheduling fand oversee all shifts including before and aftercare.


• Ensure MDO classrooms, storage shed, toys and equipment are kept in good order and repair


• Organize and maintain the supply closet and storage (concession 2) that is used by all Children’s Ministry departments


• Assist in planning and running special event days (e.g. Thanksgiving Feast, school performances, Rodeo, Water and Fiesta Days)


• Cover teacher lunches and breaks as needed


• Provide and maintain current curriculum and supplies for weekly lessons


• Make sure each classroom is clean and toys are regularly washed and sanitized

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED 


• Demonstrated experience in children’s programs and ministries, specific to families with children designated age groups


• Familiarity of scripture and basic theology


• Familiarity and basic knowledge of children’s program resources


• Demonstrate effective communication skills


• Self-directed, demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks


• Clear background and reference check

• Expressed faithful follower of Christ


• Demonstrated passion for working with children, youth, and adults


• Must be or willing to become a RCCC Member


• Support RCCC through prayer and financial stewardship (tithing)


• Attend worship regularly and special services/events


• Maintain personal accountability and relationships with staff members


• Spiritual maturity (on and off campus)

• Speaking – Communicates to parents and staff in appropriate manner.


• Basic computer skills


• Interpersonal Relationships – Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with parents, other members of the Church Staff, and MDO employees


• Child behavior and development – Knowledge of child development theory and associated behavioral norms


• Childcare practices – Knowledge of general norms and practices for care of children, including safety issues and practices


• Accreditation and certification requirements and standards


• Monitoring – Monitors performance of MDO staff, each classroom and assists as needed

Physical Requirements

• Position requires ability to lift, hold, and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances. Some mobility is also required for duties such as monitoring MDO staff and children in more than one room and/or on a playground
