Position Summary
The Music & Communication Director will serve as a key leader in music ministry and church communications that reflect Northside’s mission and values. This role blends music leadership with communications oversight to build a culture of congregational singing and also connect the church to the community.
The ideal candidate is a passionate follower of Jesus with experience in both worship and communication, enjoys working collaboratively with staff and volunteers, and is excited about helping the church connect people to Christ and one other.
Key Responsibilities
Music & Worship Leadership
Coordinate music for weekly worship services and various occasions (e.g., holiday services, community events, weddings, funerals, etc).
Select songs and musical elements that align with the theology of the church and the message of the service.
Work with Sunday service volunteers to rehearse and prepare for worship services.
Lead or support worship on Sundays and other scheduled gatherings, fostering a spirit of congregational participation.
Cultivate and recruit lay musicians and volunteers who contribute to a healthy, sustainable, God - centered worship ministry.
Communications & Media
Develop and maintain a consistent and engaging communication strategy that reflects Northside’s mission and values.
Oversee church communication platforms, including website, social media, and weekly emails.
Create and coordinate promotional content for events, ministries, sermon series, and community outreach.
Qualifications & Skills
Personal faith commitment to Jesus Christ and an active commitment to Northside’s mission and values.
Experience or demonstrated ability in worship music leadership (planning, rehearsing, leading).
Strong communication skills—written, verbal, and digital (social media, email newsletters, website).
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and ministries in a team-oriented church culture.
Creative mindset with an eye for detail in both worship planning and communication design.
Familiarity with multimedia tools (audio/video, presentation software, Canva or similar) is a plus.
Flexible schedule with availability for key Sunday and mid-week preparation times.
Work Expectations
Approximately 15 hours per week, scheduled collaboratively with church leadership.
Some evening/weekend hours are expected (especially for worship services and key events).
This is a part-time position ideal for someone who enjoys varied responsibilities and contributes to the worship life and outreach of the church.
