Job Description - Music Coordinator

Purpose:


To participate in the fulfillment of the Great Commission and the purpose of our church by assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of musical artistry in corporate worship settings throughout the church.



Leadership Role:


The Music Coordinator will support, organize, and equip the music ministry at Golden Hills Community Church. This role focuses on the operational, administrative, and musical leadership needed to plan and execute high-quality worship services and music programs, under the supervision of the Director of Integrated Operations and Creative Arts.


 


Responsibilities:


These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:



Leadership Development





    1. Assist in applying the Theological Vision for Ministry (TVM) to the music ministry programming.

    2. Help ensure wise use of church resources through careful planning and preparation.

    3. Foster healthy team relationships by equipping and encouraging volunteers.

    4. Help maintain an organized and efficient music ministry area.

    5. Encourage others in sound doctrine and godly living.




 


Ministry Development





    1. Help implement action steps to meet ministry outcomes.

    2. Participate in the interview and onboarding process for musicians, vocalists, and other volunteers under leadership guidance.

    3. Provide administrative support in tracking volunteer participation and qualifications.





Ministry Programs





    1. Work collaboratively with pastors, staff, and volunteers to plan and prepare for weekly worship services and special events.

    2. Attend planning meetings and assist with scheduling and coordination of music teams.

    3. Review and recommend music selections in alignment with service goals (subject to final approval by senior leadership).

    4. Ensure all music licenses (CCLI, CVLI, BMI) are current and appropriately documented.

    5. Provide organizational support to choirs and praise bands across age groups.

    6. Help maintain and support the rotation of volunteers in the music ministry.

    7. Train team members in the proper use and care of musical and production equipment.

    8. Keep current with worship-related technology and tools.

    9. Maintain volunteer scheduling using Planning Center Online.

    10. Lead musical worship as needed for services and events.

    11. Support the planning and execution of worship nights and other special services.





 Other





    1. Provide administrative support for the Creative Arts department as needed.

    2. The Music Coordinator shall be responsible for other duties that the Director of Integrated Operations and Creative Arts may assign.




 


Reporting:


The Music Coordinator shall report directly to the Director of Integrated Operations and Creative Arts.

Spiritual Requirements:



  • Regular involvement in Golden Hills Community Church activities and events.

  • Signed acknowledgment of Golden Hills Community Church’s “Statement of Faith” and “Staff Covenant/Lifestyle Agreement” forms.

  • Signed acknowledgment to policies and procedures as stated in Golden Hills Community Church’s employee handbook.

  • Living out the spiritual principles outlined in the “Staff Covenant/Lifestyle Agreement”; participation in a small group; tithing consistently; attending worship services; involvement in outreach; following Christ personally and passionately; sexual purity.



 


 


Education, Experience, and Skills:





    1. Education and/or experience (Must have one or more of the following)

      1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.

      2. 1–3 years of related experience preferred.



    2. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

    3. Must have a teachable spirit and a willingness to grow as a musical worship leader, and musician.

    4. Must have a genuine heart to see others experience the presence of God in worship.

    5. Must have an enthusiasm for ministry.

    6. Ability to read, compose, and arrange music.

    7. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.

    8. Ability to write reports and correspondence.

    9. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

    10. Must be confident in using the following programs and operating systems:

      1. ProPresenter 7

      2. Planning Center Online

      3. Playback by multitracks or Ableton Live

      4. Mac OS

      5. iPad OS

      6. Google Docs

      7. Google Sheets








Physical Requirements:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
