Job Type : Part-time

Responsibilities :

• Muslim Imam is expected to coordinate weekly Friday Jumu’ah Prayer for Muslim Veterans and their families (via in-person, audio or video).
• Serve on a fill-in basis for the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center (RMR VAMC).
• The Imam may also be asked to perform as the principal or educational speaker at one RMR VAMC Chaplain Service-sponsored events, such as a seminar, workshop, or lecture to bolster awareness regarding Islam or current Islamic thought.
• Imam shall provide Call-Back Islamic Services for Muslim Veterans needing Muslim-specific religious rituals or training after regular duty hours or when the VA Chaplain is unavailable or cannot offer Islamic-specific rites or practices.
• Imam receives notification from the Chaplain Service Chief, Chaplain On-Call, RMR VAMC switchboard, or Nursing Unit and responds appropriately when assigned.
• The Imam shall inquire and confirm that the requesting patient or family member is of the Muslim faith before providing services. If not Muslim, The Imam shall refer the patient or family member to an appropriate VA Chaplain or the Chief of the Chaplain Service to ensure care is provided in accordance with the requestor’s faith tradition.
• The Imam shall contact the On-Call Chaplain or Service Chief if they are unavailable during a time they are alerted that they may be called for Muslim patient needs or to provide Muslim Worship opportunities.

Qualifications & Requirements :

• The candidate shall be a Muslim Imam who will coordinate weekly Friday Jumu’ah Prayer for Muslim Veterans and their families (via in-person, audio or video),
• Notification may be via a telephone call, secure email message, a handwritten note delivered in person or to a designated secure VA Chaplain Service location.
