JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a responsible and courteous part-time Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) driver to join our team in San Jose, California. The ideal candidate will have a clean driving record, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to safety.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely transport clients to and from medical appointments, therapy sessions, and other non-emergency medical destinations
- Assist clients with entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their comfort and safety
- Operate wheelchair lifts and secure mobility devices as needed
- Maintain accurate transportation logs and client records
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and ensure vehicles are clean and well-maintained
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and healthcare providers
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies
QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, abilities):
- Licensed California Driver with good driving record.
- At least 3 years driving experience with clean record.
- Ability to operate all vehicles, has some mechanical ability and understand the maintenance program for vehicles.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- One-year experience working with the frail or elderly population (Preferred).
- Flexibility and creativity; gets along well with frail elderly people, and exercises mature judgment.
- Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
- Familiarity with traffic routes and driving regulations in San Jose.
- English required.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
