General Expectations: This position is fully in-person during the festival. Scheduling will be based on event and departmental needs and coordinated with the Box Office Team. Occasional in-person meetings prior to the event may be required. Any external commitments that could impact shift availability should be communicated to your supervisor as early as possible.
Compensation: $22/hr
Benefits: This is a part-time position during Outfest’s reconstruction phase. As such, no traditional benefits (such as health insurance or paid time off) are currently offered.
This position is non-exempt and all authorized hours worked will be paid in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws.
Roles and Responsibilities
Position Summary: The Box Office Associate supports OutfestNEXT’s ticketing and on-site patron services to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for attendees, filmmakers, partners, and guests. Working closely with the Box Office Manager and Operations team, this role handles ticketing operations, customer service, volunteer support, and day-of troubleshooting.
Assist with the festival ticketing system (Elevent), including:
Building program and venue schedules
Managing ticket and membership inventory
Pulling reports and troubleshooting user issues
Support Production & Operations with Box Office setup and logistics, including equipment, connectivity, and supplies.
Assist with ticket/pass fulfillment for members, partners, and sponsors, collaborating with Development & Sponsorship teams.
Supervise and support Box Office Volunteers during festival dates.
Staff the in-person Box Office to provide excellent customer service, responding to ticketing issues and accessibility needs.
Manage the standby seating process, working closely with Theater Managers on availability updates.
Maintain consistent communication with Marketing regarding schedule changes and audience alerts.
Answer ticketing inquiries via phone and digital channels.
Support the preparation of daily sales, attendance reporting, and post-event archival documentation.
Participate in drafting the Final Report summarizing Box Office operations.
Qualifications
Previous experience in Box Office, Ticketing Operations, or Patron Services.
Experience with ticketing platforms required; Elevent preferred.
Excellent customer service and communication skills, with ability to remain calm under pressure (rush lines, sold-out screenings, VIPs, etc.).
Strong technical proficiency with Google Workspace; familiarity with CRM/database systems (e.g., FileMaker Pro) a plus.
Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable in fast-paced environments.
Ability to lead and assist volunteers in real-time decision-making.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Ability to work evenings and weekends during the event
Access to transportation preferred, not required.
