Job Description - NTI / NMTI Fellow

National Theater Institute / National Music Theater Institute Fellows support the daily operations of both the Fall NTI and Spring NMTI Semester at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. Fellows work with the NTI and NMTI Artistic Director, Associate Director, the O’Neill Production and Company Management teams, as well as the rest of the O’Neill staff to coordinate all NTI and NMTI needs. Ideal candidates should have a passion for supporting emerging musical theater artists, arts education, and arts management.



The Fellowship runs from Early September 2025 - Mid May 2026 



The position responsibilities include but not limited to: 



  • Act as the point of contact for faculty regarding classroom needs including: communicating schedule or location changes, distributing homework, printing class materials, setting up spaces, and preparing technology.

  • Assist the Artistic Directors and Associate Director in the execution of Arrival Day, Departure Day, and the student presentations.

  • Serve as the point of contact for gathering resources needed for class and scene work such as: hand props, scripts, scores, and the like.

  • Support Company Management and Associate Director in the coordination of travel and housing for faculty and guest artists.

  • Drive faculty and students to and from off-campus housing, local train stations and airports and local shops using company passenger vans.

  • Liaise between: the students and their faculty; the students and staff / faculty,  Company Management, Housekeeping, and Kitchen staff.

  • Help maintain student and faculty databases.

  • Act swiftly in the event of an emergency as an important component of the O’Neill’s on-call emergency network.

  • Other duties as assigned. 



Housing, meals, $200 a week stipend, and an invaluable opportunity to work with professional theater artists. Fellows have the opportunity to audit any NMTI class while they are off-duty to expand their own knowledge, network, and artform. Training, housing, and three meals a day provided. 



Requirements:


Fellows work 40-hours a week and share the O’Neill’s on-call duties for after-hours arrivals/emergencies. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record is essential. Fellows MUST be comfortable driving a 15-seat passenger vehicle. (Vehicle training is provided.) Fellows must also be proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, and Word. 



Successful candidates will be strong collaborators, creative in their problem-solving abilities, effective communicators, organized, and able to remain calm under pressure.
