JOB SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the Birthing Center Nursery provides specialized care for newborns and their families in a collaborative, team-based environment. The APRN is responsible for performing comprehensive newborn assessments, managing acute and routine neonatal conditions, and developing individualized care plans in coordination with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. The APRN provides education and support to parents and families, ensuring they feel confident and informed in caring for their newborns. This role emphasizes evidence-based practice, family-centered care, and adherence to hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
The APRN serves as both a clinical expert and resource within the Birthing Center, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, mentoring staff, and supporting the overall mission of Brattleboro Memorial Hospital to provide exceptional, compassionate care in a rural community setting.
The Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Birthing Center provides family-centered, compassionate, and comprehensive perinatal care to patients and families in southeastern Vermont and the surrounding tri-state region. Services include labor and delivery, postpartum care, newborn care, lactation support, and family education. The Birthing Center Nursery specifically provides care for newborns requiring routine observation, transitional care, and management of common neonatal conditions, while supporting the bonding of infants with their families. The interdisciplinary team collaborates to ensure safe, evidence-based, and patient-focused care, with an emphasis on promoting wellness, supporting family choice, and fostering a positive birth experience.
