Nurse- Respite Weekend Package

Are you a current LPN or RN and want a unique, fun, and team-oriented environment where you can put your skills to use in a new and interesting way? Easterseals is looking for a Registered Nurse or LPN for our weekend Respite Camp. Come join us in supporting our Respite Direct Support Professionals in providing excellent care to our clients as they enjoy a weekend full of activities! Respite Camp occurs twice a month, year-round, and begins Friday evenings until Sunday evenings.

Responsibilities Include: 

• Inventory client medication and document on provided medication administration record
• Prepare and administer medication to clients at scheduled times: 0800, 1200, 1700, 2000, and PRN/odd times
• Document administered medication on MAR
• Perform client assessment and provide first aid care to clients as needed
• Complete client communication forms after client injury, illness, or seizure activity

Hours/Shifts available: (subject to change depending on availability)

Friday: 5:00 PM-10:00 PM 

Saturday: 6:00 AM-2:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Sunday: 6:00 AM-4:30 PM

Hours can be flexible but ideal candidates are required to work 1 shift per month

Interview process consists of first phone interview with Recruitment and Talent Development Coordinator and 2nd Team Leader interview.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse with current and active license in the State of Iowa.

• Certification in CPR (Adult and Child), First Aid and Mandatory Reporting.

• Ability to demonstrate behavior consistent with positive behavior support philosophy

• Desire to work with persons who have disabilities.

• Ability to work one weekend per month for the respite weekend program and 

• Ability to be part of the care team pool during summer programing.

• Ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to an activity; to model and enforces appropriate safety and emergency procedures.

• Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats. 

• Ability to bend, stoop, twist and lift

• Ability to transfer or move a minimum of 80 pounds.

• Ability to work non-traditional hours, including on-call overnight hours

• Ability to work cooperatively with team members, campers and external customers in a professional and concerned manner.

• Ability to accept supervision and guidance.

• Ability to work independently.
