POSITION SUMMARY

The Part-Time On-Call Dormitory Nurse will be grounded in Christian values of compassion, service and integrity. Provide professional medical support when contacted if urgent needs arise and offer support with calmness, discernment and respect.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES

• Respond to phone calls regarding student or staff health concerns with professionalism and urgency.
• Assess patient symptoms over the phone and provide appropriate initial medical guidance.
• Determine the level of care needed based on the situation (e.g., in-person evaluation, emergency services, rest and monitoring).
• Provide calm and clear direction in emergencies or time-sensitive situations.
• Document calls, assessments, and actions taken in accordance with health and safety protocols.
• Offer recommendations for minor injuries or common illnesses (e.g., colds, stomach issues, minor cuts).
• Identify when further medical evaluation or follow-up is necessary.
• Provide initial support or guidance for mental health concerns when contacted, while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Make recommendations for mental health counseling support when deemed necessary. 
• Communicate and collaborate with dormitory staff and the International Student Program Director regarding student health matters when appropriate, maintaining confidentiality.

Conduct that reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).

• Belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior 
• Is a committed Christian who is dedicated to continued spiritual growth and development as evidenced through a growing personal walk with God (e.g. daily spiritual rhythms of prayer, fellowship, Bible study, etc.).
• Prayerfully seeks God’s will in their own lives and in their ministry at CRISTA.
• Engages our ministry including staff and colleagues through prayer, participation in spiritual practices, leading devotionals and other spiritual practices.
• Affirms, aligns with and supports CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Statement (CCC).
• Conducts themselves in a manner which reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
• Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.

EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 3-years’ experience as a nurse.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

Current RN License

SOFTWARE / EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Available during nights, weekends, and holidays to offer timely care and guidance.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to evaluate a range of medical conditions.
