JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/ Objectives

The machinery painter applies paint and other coatings to a variety of machinery, materials and surfaces on any of Puck’s product lines by performing the following duties:

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Prepares the surfaces that will be painted.  If previous finishes are on the surface, the machinery painter will use masking, grit blast or chemical rinse to prep the surface. 


2. Cleans and smooths the surface and lets it dry before painting.


3. Prepares the paint that will be used by using measurement equipment to check the makeup of the paint and uses their understanding of chemistry to mix the appropriate compounds for the task.


4. Applies the paint using a variety of techniques and tools to paint the surfaces, including spray equipment.  At times, may use stencils.


5. Follows all OSHA and Puck safety procedures, including wear appropriate personal protective equipment where required.


6. Cleans up the area after they have finished a job and carefully follows all guidelines for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste.


7. Loads racks and unloads racks of a variety of equipment for painting.


8. Responsible for maintenance of painting equipment and to troubleshoot any problems that the equipment may have. 


9. Accurately records time worked and allocates time to the appropriate job(s).

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the manufacturing environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The team member must frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position. The hours of work will be variable, and the days of work each week will also vary. 

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education & Experience

1. High school diploma or GED diploma, or three to six months’ related experience (in farming, construction, or manufacturing) or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education & Experience

1. One or more years of related experience.
