Friends of Switchpoint is a non-profit organization that has been serving individuals, families, and veterans in Utah who are experiencing poverty and homelessness since 2014.

PURPOSE: The Food Pantry Specialist supports Switchpoint Food Pantry functions by managing the current client database, acting in a case manager role during the enrollment interview process, and utilizing client database software to track attendance and poundage accurately for grant reports.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Maintain confidential, computerized, and paper records of food pantry clients and all identifying documents.
- Possess a knowledge of available community resources for pantry clients.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide – comfortable with a 10 key.
- Exhibit’s ability to learn and apply new skills.
- Requires minimal supervision but is comfortable working with a team.
- Displays courtesy and sensitivity; able to manage difficult or emotional situations; meets commitments; responds promptly to the needs of colleagues; is comfortable enforcing policies and procedures with clients; not afraid to ask questions.
- Ability to express ideas and thoughts verbally; exhibits good listening and comprehension; keeps others adequately informed.
- Ability to follow and carry out instructions; responds to management direction; meets attendance and punctuality expectations.
- Assist in daily supervision of food pantry volunteers as needed by Food Pantry Manager
- Assists with applications for food delivery program (CSFP) for seniors.
- Assures that accurate poundage/client information is recorded in client attendance database.
- Ensures compliance with Utah Food Bank, USDA and other applicable agency policies, procedures, and requirements always, including maintaining high food safety standards.
- Adheres to all food pantry policies and procedures and attends trainings as assigned.
- All other duties as assigned.
Recordkeeping and Reporting:
- Report critical incident(s) immediately to Regional Director.
- Collects data necessary to meet funding requirements and statistical reports.
Requirements:
- The minimum requirement is a High School Diploma or equivalent. An additional two years of non-profit work experience is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish is desirable.
- Previous food pantry experience or related experience is preferred.
- Motivated self-started with a proven ability to work well with details and program delivery both individually and as a team player.
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal communication abilities
- Excellent written, verbal, computer, and documentation skills
- Proven organizational and follow-up skills.
- Comfortable working with diverse clients, volunteers, staff and other service providers
- Ability to handle a range of client and volunteer situations calmly, professionally, and respectfully.
- Ability to represent the agency effectively and appropriately to the public.
- Must have the ability to apply common sense in carrying out instructions.
- Must have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and database software.
- Must be able to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit as required by Utah state agencies.
Compensation:
Wage range starting at $14/hour
