Part-Time Bus Operator

The Boys & Girls Club of Garfield is seeking a dependable team player to join our organization and support our daily aftercare operations. The ideal candidate for this position has experience driving a school bus, strong communication skills and the flexibility in their schedules to pick up students as early as 12 pm when necessary. The position requires exceptional management of student behavior and keeping the bus organized, clean, and ready to drive at all times. This opportunity provides you with the chance to work in a team environment and provide our students with a safe, enjoyable ride to school each day.

MUST HAVE AVAILABILITY M - F, 2PM - 4:30PM

Responsibilities:

  • Be available as early as 12 pm for one-session/half-day pick-ups as scheduled by district and charter schools.
  
  
  • Have consistent availability Monday - Friday 2 pm - 4:30 pm.
  
  
  • Be familiar with the route and schedule.
  
  
  • Know the city traffic rules concerning pedestrians, bicycles, and other vehicles.
  
  
  • Be familiar with safety rules regarding emergency procedures.
  
  
  • Have good communication skills with passengers and fellow drivers.
  
  
  • Be able to operate the bus in a safe manner by observing traffic rules, handling emergency situations, dealing with disorderly passengers and pedestrians, and communicating with other drivers.
