Part Time Chior Teacher

Pacifica Christian High School is seeking a part-time choir teacher to teach one section of choir to beginning and intermediate students. They'll work with students to develop healthy vocal techniques, expand vocal range, and hone performance skills. 

Qualifications:

• Chior directing at the high school level. 


• A BA from an accredited college or university is preferred. 


• An ability to sight read and play piano accompaniment during class. 

Duties

• Teach one choir class 2 to 3 days a week during our block schedule. 


• Teach and reinforce proper vocal techniques, including breath control, posture, resonance, and articulation.


• Attend the rehearsal and performance of our Spring Concert in March. 
  


• Embody and demonstrate enthusiasm and support of the school’s mission and values.
  


• Develop strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

High school should not be a competitive proving ground, but unfortunately, the college landscape has impacted the virtue of learning for learning’s sake. Pacifica students are encouraged to find a balance between rigor and relaxation—a practice intentionally implemented throughout the class schedule, homework load, and coursework itself.

As a Christian school, Pacifica students learn from faculty who live out their faith. In the classroom and through other experiences, students are encouraged to examine their own relationship with God by exploring life’s most important questions, contemplating meaning and purpose, and pursuing goodness and truth in their day to day lives.
