Position Overview
We are seeking dynamic and enthusiastic Engagement Specialists to join our team and support the delivery of hands-on STE(A)M programming. This role focuses on facilitating engaging activities for youth, assisting in program setup and execution, and ensuring a safe, fun, and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities
Program Delivery:
Facilitate hands-on STEM and arts activities for groups of 20–50 children (K-12).
Support students as they explore, create, and problem-solve in various activities.
Ensure all programs align with STE(A)M Truck’s mission and learning goals.
Event Support:
Assist in the setup and breakdown of program materials, equipment, and tools.
Help manage group dynamics and maintain a positive and engaging environment.
Collaborate with other staff and volunteers to ensure program success.
Youth Engagement:
Build rapport with students to encourage participation and creativity.
Foster an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for diverse learners.
Address student needs and behavior to maintain a safe space.
Logistical Support:
Ensure program supplies are organized and prepared for each session.
Assist in managing program schedules and time management during events.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the engagement team to support program goals.
Provide feedback on activities and suggest improvements to enhance impact.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in education, STEM, arts, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
1+ year of experience working with youth in an educational or recreational setting.
Experience facilitating STEM, arts, or hands-on activities is highly desirable.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage groups of children effectively and enthusiastically.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Comfort working with tools, materials, and technology (training provided).
Physical and Schedule Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (materials and equipment).
Flexibility to work afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.
Reliable transportation to travel to engagement sites across metro Atlanta area as needed.
