Description

POSITION SCOPE & SUMMARY:

Positive Sobriety Institute (PSI) is looking for a part-time therapist (W2 or 1099 available) to provide group programming on Saturdays (2-4 groups/month). The ideal candidate would also be available to provide one group during the week to increase familiarity with the milieu and with PSI’s team (M-F, flexibility with timing). 

PSI specializes in treating substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health for a wide range of professionals, including physicians, attorneys, and executives, in high-stress, high-accountability roles.  

This is a part-time hourly position and requires clinical licensure in the state of Illinois (LSW or LPC required; LCSW, LCPC, PsyD, or PhD preferred). The position requires knowledge about substance use disorders, trauma, psychiatric diagnoses, and familiarity with healthcare professionals (particularly physicians). The therapist collaborates with a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and counselors.? 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run group programming for PHP and IOP patients 2-4 Saturdays each month. Group is from 8:30am-12:30pm, expected hours onsite 8am-1pm. 
  • Availability to run one additional group during the week (M-F) to increase familiarity with the patients and the PSI team is preferred but not required. 
  • Attendance at Weekly Virtual Staffing from 1-2:30 every Monday is preferred but not required. 
  • Provide high quality, compassionate, and ethical group therapy. 
  • Skillful in applying interventions with individuals in crisis. 
  • Practices only evidence-based therapeutic techniques in a respectful and caring manner with multi-cultural understanding. 
  • Completes documentation (group notes) in Kipu EMR within 72 hours with strong clinical writing skills.  
  • Maintains privacy of all company information and safeguards confidential information at all times. 
  • Demonstrates a collaborative spirit as a key member of the treatment team determining the course of patients’ treatment. 
  • Engages in necessary self-care. 
  • Flexible, curious, and non-judgmental approach and interested in other people and forming relationships. 
  • Adheres and complies with all Positive Sobriety Institutes policies/standards whether internal, regulatory, legal, etc. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

EMPLOYEE UNDERSTANDING:

  • This is a part-time position working the hours required to meet job expectations. 
  • Scheduled and unscheduled performance reviews are given according to Company policies. 
  • Employment with Windrose Recovery is “at will” and employment may be terminated at any time with or without cause or notice.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education – Minimum master’s degree from an accredited College or University in counseling psychology, social work, behavioral science, or related field. 
  • Licensure – Provisionally licensed as an LSW or LPC in the state of Illinois required. Fully licensed as an LCPC, LCSW, PsyD, or PhD in the state of Illinois preferred. 
  • Experience – Minimum two to three (2-3) years professional experience with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health diagnoses. 

SKILLS:

  • Strong experience facilitating groups. 
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and multi-tasking. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Assertive problem-solving ability. 
  • Self-directed and can work independently and implement time management strategies. 
  • Commitment to professional standards, regulatory excellence/integrity, and personal development 
  • Must be proficient in computer usage and electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR). 

COMPETENCIES:

  • Provides professional counselling and treatment in accordance with treatment plan and follows through as required. Collaborates with full treatment team as needed. 
  • Uses compassionate and professional patient care. 
  • Demonstrates mastery of appropriate diagnostic, record keeping, and patient status documentation software applications by including all elements of EMR in documentation progress notes. 
  • Uses thorough assessment skills (i.e. history, probing for signs and symptoms, etc.) to make accurate decisions on seriousness of condition and appropriate treatment options. 
  • Demonstrates attention to detail in completing assignments with minimal supervisory intervention. 
  • Effectively collaborates with members of the care team. 
  • Provides advice and support for patients to make informed decisions about their rights. 
  • Completes work consistently with the highest respect and dignity for those being treated. 
  • Acts and performs with sound job knowledge, judgment, and problem-solving skills in issuing feedback/instructions to others. 
  • Uses active listening skills that are sensitive to individual and cultural communication differences. 
  • Responds to emergencies using proper judgment. 
  • Self identifies and pursues/supports continuous learning opportunities for self and others. 

 

POSITION STRUCTURE / BENEFITS: 

  • W2 or 1099 both available; candidate preference can be discussed during the interview process 
  • Starting at $70-90/hour depending on licensure, experience, and employee/contractor classification 
  • If classified as an employee, part-time employees receive 1 hour of PTO and 1 hour of sick time for every 35 hours worked (cap of 40 hours per year)
