Part Time Innkeeper - The Denny House Bed and Breakfast

The Denny House Bed and Breakfast is an impressive, antebellum Greek Revival home located near the center of the historic village of Paint Lick, Kentucky in Garrard County. The house is a short drive from Richmond, Berea and Lancaster, Kentucky! The bed and breakfast hosts overnight guests as well as a variety of events including bridal showers, weddings, corporate events, private dinner parties and bridge groups.

The role of Innkeeper is vital to the overall success of the Bed and Breakfast and is primarily responsible for day-to-day B&B operations and hospitality as well as business development and general housekeeping. The Innkeeper is expected to greet all guests upon arrival and provide courteous and knowledgeable care before, during and after the stay.

This is a perfect position for someone with flexible availability looking for a little extra income, a creative spirit, loves people and most importantly enjoys the role of host/hostess! Must be at home in a kitchen and preparing meals for others as well as comfortable with housekeeping duties like laundry, deep cleaning, ironing, etc.  

The position is posted as part-time and is hourly, non-exempt. Hours will change and vary week to week based on the number of guest reservations. The position is required to perform a variety of tasks examples of which are listed below. Please note this is the 3rd of three part time Innkeeper roles at The Denny House.  This position will fill in scheduling gaps with our primary innkeepers.  

Physical requirements include being able to lift and carry 25 pounds, ability to climb stairs (all guest rooms are on the 2nd floor), bend, kneel, sit and stand for long periods, walk on uneven surfaces.  Candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check as well as a drug test.    

Essential Responsibilities

· Prepare breakfast for overnight guests for each morning of a stay - must enjoy and be able to cook for a variety of dietary preferences including vegan, gluten or dairy free, paleo, alpha-gal, vegetarian, etc. for 2-8 guests.

Answer/return phone calls and emails from potential and confirmed guests and clients.

· Making reservations for overnight guests and events.

· Ensure The Denny House is clean and meets local/state health department inspection standards including bedrooms, bathrooms, private and common areas and is always ready for guests.

· Survey the bed and breakfast for cleanliness and maintenance issues

· Complete routine cleaning and light maintenance as needed throughout the house.

· Provide deep cleaning of guest rooms including bathrooms upon guest check-out in preparation for next occupant.

· Ensure grocery and supply shopping is done and stocked, and amenities are replenished before and during guest stays.

· Launder all linens and towels, iron all bed linens before making the bed.

Education & Experience

· Two years of hospitality experience or customer service experience preferred.
