Part Time Meat Associate

We are seeking a dedicated and personable Meat Associate to join our family at Farmer Joe's Fresh Market. This role is primarily focused on providing exceptional customer service at the meat counter, wrapping meat products, and merchandising. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about customer interaction, detail-oriented, and able to handle various tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Service: Greet and assist customers at the meat counter, answer questions about products, offer cooking advice, and fulfill special orders.
• Meat Wrapping: Efficiently wrap meat products to maintain freshness and ensure proper labeling.
• Merchandising: Organize and display meat products in a visually appealing manner, ensuring the counter is clean and well-stocked.
• Product Knowledge: Maintain a thorough understanding of the various meat products offered, including cuts, preparation methods, and nutritional information.
• Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels, restock supplies as needed, and handle inventory-related tasks.
• Sanitation and Safety: Follow all food safety regulations and store policies regarding cleanliness, hygiene, and proper handling of meat products.
• Sales Support: Assist in maintaining promotional displays, handling transactions at the register, and encouraging additional sales through product recommendations.

Qualifications:

• Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.
• Experience: Previous experience in a meat department or similar role is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
• Skills: Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and handle customer inquiries. 
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail in handling and cutting meat products to ensure quality and safety.
• Safety Gear: Must be able to wear non-slip shoes as required by store policy.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Strength: Capable of lifting and moving objects up to 80 pounds with ease.
• Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while maintaining focus.
• Manual Dexterity: Skilled in both fine and gross motor tasks, essential for meat preparation.
• Vision: Peripheral and near/far visual accuracy to ensure quality and safety.
• Hearing: Able to hear and respond effectively to instructions and customer needs.
• Flexibility/Mobility: Able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and move fluidly in a busy environment.
• Environmental Tolerance: Comfortable working in cooler temperatures and with cleaning agents.
• Allergy Tolerance: Able to handle a variety of fresh ingredients without adverse reactions.
• Step-Stool/Ladder Use: Confidently use step-stools and ladders as needed.
• Physical Balance: Maintain stability while handling tasks with care.
• Communication: Clear and effective in conveying instructions and working with the team.
• Reaching: Capable of reaching below waist, at waist, and overhead to access and manage products and equipment..
