Job Description - Part-Time or Full-Time Psychiatrist for a Mental Health Center in Binghampton, New York

Job Type: Part-Time (16 hours/week)

Hourly Rate: $210–$295/hr

Location: Binghamton, New York

We are working with a well-established residential treatment program in Binghamton, New York that supports children and adolescents ages 6–21 facing complex behavioral health and emotional challenges. The organization is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Psychiatrist who brings a trauma-informed, team-based approach to care.

This is a part-time, on-site position with an immediate need to fill before September 15, 2025 due to the transition of the current psychiatrist. While hybrid work (50% telehealth) may be considered later on, the role will begin fully in-person to support relationship-building and care continuity.

This organization helps young people who have endured trauma find stability, support, and hope through structured, evidence-based residential care. With a full therapeutic and clinical team on-site, the psychiatrist plays a critical role in both diagnosis and ongoing care coordination.

Their vision is grounded in connection, consistency, and compassion. The ideal psychiatrist doesn’t just write scripts—they join a mission and a team that truly cares.

The Psychiatrist will provide direct psychiatric care and medication management for youth in residence. You’ll work alongside licensed therapists, nurses, educators, and case workers in a dynamic and supportive setting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about improving the lives of young people impacted by trauma and behavioral health challenges.

  • Evaluate emotional, behavioral, and mental health status of youth residents

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments and medication management

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff in care planning and case discussions

  • Utilize an ETR (Electronic Treatment Record) system with e-prescribing

  • Offer clinical guidance to support staff and leadership as needed

  • Provide interim telepsychiatry if necessary during onboarding (short-term only)

  • MD or DO with Psychiatry Residency (Child & Adolescent preferred)

  • Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Psychiatry

  • Licensed or license-eligible in the state of New York

  • Demonstrated experience with trauma-informed care and youth populations

  • Collaborative, compassionate, and flexible approach

  • Experience in residential, community-based, or inpatient psychiatric settings a plus

  • Hourly Rate: $210–$295/hr (based on experience)

  • Relocation assistance available

  • Full benefits package negotiable for long-term commitment

  • Supportive onboarding with outgoing provider

  • Access to an engaged, multi-disciplinary team and a mission-driven environment

  • 16 hours per week, flexible scheduling options

  • Primarily on-site; hybrid considered only after trust and stability are established

  • Permanent placement strongly preferred; locum tenens considered short-term only
