Job Description - Part-Time Payroll Specialist

Join our collaborative HR team and help ensure employees across our businesses are paid accurately and on time. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys diving into the details.

Why This Role Matters:
Payroll accuracy is personal. When you help ensure timely and accurate paychecks, you’re helping build trust with every employee. In this role, you’ll support our HR shared services team in delivering consistent, compliant payroll across our portfolio of companies.

Hours & Work Schedule:

  • Full eight-hour days on Mondays and Tuesdays (required)
  • Additional half-day during the week (Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday - we're flexible!)
  • Total of 15–20 hours/week

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare and process payrolls for multiple businesses using a web-based system
  • Review and analyze time records to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Balance and verify payroll reports, troubleshoot discrepancies, and resolve issues
  • Interpret and enter garnishments, wage attachments, and child support orders
  • Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS
  • Support quarterly and year-end payroll processes
  • Provide responsive payroll-related support to employees and managers

Required Qualifications:

  • Detail-Oriented Mindset: You take the time to review your work, knowing that even minor inaccuracies in payroll can have a major impact 
  • Enjoys Working with Numbers: You have a natural aptitude for numerical work and enjoy digging into data to find answers or spot issues
  • Comfortable with Technology: You can easily learn and use payroll systems, spreadsheets, and other platforms that support your work
  • Professionalism: You handle confidential information with care and integrity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree (or higher) in Business, Accounting, HR, or related field
  • 1+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-state or multi-entity environment
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems (we’ll train you on ours)
  • Strong Excel skills and general comfort with data
