Job Description - Part Time Police Clerk

The Lawrenceburg Police Department is currently seeking a Part Time Police Clerk. This role provides essential front Office and Communication support to ensure efficient daily operations of the Lawrenceburg Police Department. Hours vary based on departmental needs and may include weekdays, evenings, nights, holidays, and short coverage shifts (including 1–2-hour shifts). Monthly hours will fluctuate.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following:



  • Answer main line of the Lawrenceburg Police Department and direct phone calls appropriately and in a professional manner.

  • Greet and assist walk-ins at the station

  • Operate department communication systems (training provided)

  • Monitor and operate video surveillance systems (training provided)

  • Perform general clerical duties including data entry, email correspondence, and document preparation using Microsoft Word and Outlook.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Strong and professional communication skills and customer service skills, both in person and over the phone.

  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, email, general navigation).

  • Ability to remain professional and composed in a public safety environment.

  • Willingness to learn department specific systems and procedures.

  • Reliable and able to respond to scheduling needs with flexibility.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer workstation.

  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch and reach in an office environment.

  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and operating standard office equipment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, including speaking, hearing, and visual acuity sufficient to read screens, reports, and technical documentation.

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 25 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
