Part Time Production Associate

Location: On-site in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA

Schedule: Varying shifts, late events, weekends, holidays.

We're embarking on an exciting  journey and seek a dynamic Part Time Production Associate to join our events team and contribute to our new venture. 

Role Overview: 

As a Part-Time Production Associate, you will be crucial in setting up and supporting our events, providing excellent customer service, and occasionally assisting with sales. Your main duties will include setting up, running, and breaking down events. Additionally, you will help with customer service and business operations, such as processing sales at off-site pop-ups. This part-time position requires availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Assist in event setup, which may include moving of shelves, setting up chairs, and ensuring technology such as lights and microphones are functioning properly. 
• Welcoming event attendees by checking them into the system, directing flow of traffic, and providing information.
• Troubleshoot any event issues as they arise.
• Setting up off-site point-of-sale systems
• Helping with logistics such as updating our event book pick-up logs and adding event updates to the company website.
• Assist in planning, running, and executing monthly book clubs and writing workshops.
• Ensure exceptional customer service by handselling books, greeting and assisting customers, and providing an overall positive shopping experience.
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations and answer inquiries about book content, authors, and genres. 
• Handle customer complaints and ensure prompt resolution to maintain customer satisfaction.
• Maintain the organizational standards of the store, including ensuring that book and merchandise displays are well-maintained.
• Collaborate with the team to achieve sales goals.
• Participate in team meetings.
• Answer questions and place special orders in person and/or over the phone.
• Keep up to date with current book/author trends.
• Help write book reviews for in-store displays and social media platforms.
• Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

• Previous events or production experience required; prior bookstore, retail, or customer service experience preferred. 

• Experience with POS systems preferred. 

• Passion for books and literature; interest in romance literature preferred.  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment. 

• Ability to frequently carry 25+ pounds as well as repetitive physical tasks, such as placing chairs down and moving bookshelves and display tables

• Basic computer and cash handling skills. 

• Flexibility to work events and bookselling shifts that include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
