Part-time Store Associate

South Mountain Creamery has an immediate opening for a Part-time, store associate on our retail team at our Home Farm in Middletown, MD. 

Our retail team is the face of everything South Mountain Creamery stands for. From making waffle cones and scooping ice cream to providing tours and hosting calf feedings - the team makes each visit to the farm something special. Think the happiest place on earth...but with adorable cows and way better ice cream!

Stepping into a South Mountain Creamery Store is like stepping back in the times of neighborhood corner markets—places where you could pick up farm-fresh milk and other dairy products and then stop at the counter for a scrumptious hand-crafted ice cream treat. We still bake our famous waffle cones every day, make our signature whipped cream from scratch, and serve our divine super-premium ice cream. 

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Greeting and interacting with customers and coworkers in a friendly professional manner
• Completing sales transactions efficiently
• Performing opening and closing duties based on schedule
• Maintaining product knowledge
• Responsibly handling transactions involving cash, coupons, and promotions
• Scooping ice cream & making waffle cones
• Keeping the store clean and well-stocked
• Completing paperwork properly
• Chance to help with off-stie events
• Chance to cross-train with tour guide position, if interested
• As well as other duties as assigned

The right person has:

• Retail or food experience (not required, but definitely a plus)
• Flexibility in scheduling as some weekend, morning or evening shifts may be assigned
• Capacity to troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate o issues that may arise
• The motivation to work in a team environment - 
• A detail-oriented mindset
• Ability to working in different temperatures, in and out of freezer

Hour range from approximately 4-6 hours per day.  Shifts could either be from approximately 9 am-12pm/1pm or 12pm-5pm/6pm.  *hours vary by season.

Work is performed in a store and will require some work in refrigerated settings (obtaining supplies from walk-in, retrieving ice cream from the freezer); you must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while working safely and efficiently. This position requires the employee to lift roughly 30lbs from ground level to waist high using proper lifting techniques. Bending and other physical tasks are required.

Candidates should be able to learn quickly, troubleshoot accurately, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
