Part-Time Student Life & Activities Aide (Contractor)

Position Overview: DCI is hiring a part-time Student Life & Activities Aide. (Contractor) This Aide is responsible for assisting the Director of Activities & Activities Specialist in the overall management of the DC International School’s After School Student Life Programming; including but not limited to our activities, sports, international engagement and events. 

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. (Associates, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent is a plus)


• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


• Experience in a school environment.


• Ability to engage in sports-based activities.


• Fluent in Spanish is a plus.

Compensation.  You will be paid at a per hour rate of $27.25. Any additional hours will require approval by the [SLT SUPERVISOR]. 

Schedule: Mondays- Fridays 3:30pm-6:00pm

Key Qualities & Skills:

• Help plan, teach, and support aftercare programming, including but not limited to tutoring, homework help, and athletic programs. 


• Supervise and ensure students’ safety during aftercare activities in the classroom, cafeteria, on the playground, and on field trips if necessary.


• Help maintain a neat and organized activity space.


• Report student issues to supervisor(s)


• Participate in dismissal procedures at the end of after care, ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult (parent or authorized adult for pickup).


• Work with other staff members to form a positive and supportive team.


• Assist members of our StudentLife team with administrative work on our International and Field Trip programs. 


• Interact with parents and students in a professional and inviting manner.


• Support activities staff as an additional instructor as necessary for sports and activities programming.


• Assist activities staff with the development of Friday Activities schedules.


• Ability to proactively manage the classroom in accordance with the school’s discipline approach to maximize student engagement.


• Ability to adapt and implement feedback received for real-time improvement.


• Provide informal discipline and counseling in response to students issues, including tracking responses, and informing the proper staff members.


• Provide support to office, front desk, and facility staff as necessary.


• Assist in organizing equipment and conducting inventory of equipment.


• Other duties as assigned.
