Part-Time Technical Director School Theater (1520 Hours per Week)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Technical Director to support our school theater program. This part-time position (15–20 hours per week) oversees the technical elements of school productions and events, working closely with the theater director, students, and faculty to ensure high-quality performances in a safe and organized environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all technical aspects of school theater productions (lighting, sound, set construction, rigging, and stage management support)


• Design and execute lighting and sound plans for performances


• Supervise and mentor students involved in technical theater


• Coordinate setup, rehearsals, performances, and strike


• Maintain theater equipment, tools, and inventory


• Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper use of equipment


• Assist with other school events requiring auditorium technical support

Qualifications:

• Experience in technical theater (lighting, sound, stagecraft, and set construction)


• Ability to teach and supervise middle and/or high school students


• Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills


• Knowledge of theater safety practices


• Ability to lift equipment and work flexible hours, including evenings during production weeks
