Job Description - Patient Access Associate (PRN; Variable Hours) - University Medical Center Emergency Department

As a Patient Access Associate in our Emergency Department, you’re often the first point of contact during some of a patient’s most stressful moments. You bring clarity, compassion, and confidence while handling registrations, verifying information, and supporting patients and families in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. 

You’ll work closely with ED clinicians and staff to keep care moving efficiently—making a real difference when it matters most. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Greet and assist patients and families in the Emergency Department 

  • Register patients quickly and accurately during emergency visits 

  • Verify demographic and insurance information and scan required documents 

  • Communicate clearly and compassionately in high-pressure situations 

  • Support admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed 

  • Collaborate with clinical and support teams to maintain patient flow 

What You Bring: 

  • Strong customer service skills and emotional intelligence 

  • Ability to stay calm, focused, and professional under pressure 

  • Attention to detail in a fast-moving environment 

Minimum Requirement: 

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
