POSITION TITLE: Payroll Specialist
REPORTING TO: Accounting Controller, Human Resources Manager
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Part Time
JOB SUMMARY
- Manage Payroll Coordination, Employee Benefits, and documentation related to hiring and onboarding employees.
- Assist with daily business office and bookkeeping activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain all payroll related records, including spreadsheets, accounting database and payroll accounts
- Process bi-weekly payroll and research and resolves questions from managers and employees as they relate to the processing of payroll
- Communicates with HR to ensure the integrity of the payroll data, including data related to new hires, terminations, and rate changes
- Assist with new hire recruitment, hiring and onboarding processes
- Maintain record of employee benefit accruals, updating monthly
- Prepare annual benefit statements
- Provide support to Accounting Controller on varied accounting/business duties including bank reconciliation, various state and local tax filings, and assistance with annual budgeting process

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business or equivalent working experience
- Three (3) years’ working experience in payroll and accounting required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to prioritize and attention to detail required
- Ability to maintain and manage a high level of confidentiality and professionalism required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office based programs; proficiency in Excel preferred
- Experience with TOAST Payroll preferred
- Experience with Sage Accounting Software preferred
- Extensive experience with data entry and record keeping preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is generally performed in an office environment.
- Use standard office equipment (computer, phone, printer, etc.)
- Travel occasionally to other locations for meetings, conferences, etc.
