Perinatal Registered Sonographer - Part Time

In addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited sonography training program.
• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• At least 5 years of experience in a high-risk obstetric ultrasound service (preferred).
• Registered  Diagnostic  Medical  Sonographer  (ROMS®) credential, specializing in OB/GYN, awarded by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography® (ARDMS®) (required).
• Nuchal translucency certification through the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) or Nuchal Translucency Quality Review (NQTR) programs (preferred).

Demonstrates Skills:

• Demonstrates detailed knowledge of anatomy as imaged by sonography and correctly positions transducer and control settings for optimum visualization of structures being imaged.
• Performs sonography to guide chorionic villus sampling for prenatal diagnosis of genetic defects.
• Performs sonography to guide amniocentesis for prenatal diagnosis of genetic defects.
• Performs sonography to determine normality of first and second trimester pregnancies.
• Provide after care instructions to patients undergoing prenatal diagnosis procedures.
• Performs ultrasound examinations on obstetric inpatients, and participates in after-hours call service for obstetric requirements.
• Meets physical requirements to perform all aspects of diagnostic sonography studies in the inpatient as well as outpatient settings, including but not limited to performing portable exams and assisting with transfer of transferring wheelchair patients.
• Demonstrates competency in the Hospital's electronic health record.
• Demonstrates competency on the related ultrasound equipment.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the techniques needed to optimize the image quality and demonstrate the required anatomy.
• Uses proper body mechanics to ensure patient safety upon moving and/or transferring patients.
• Demonstrates ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates ability to obtain pertinent clinical information from the patient to aid in correlation with sonographic findings.
• Documents any significant image seen during study on hospital-approved system.
• Tracks all patient data in hospital-approved electronic system.
• Makes necessary changes to reflect proper billing changes and proper clinical diagnosis.
• Transfers all patient data in hospital-approved system, scans all pertinent data and places procedures in on-line queue for review by Perinatologist.
• Follows Standard Precautions.
