Description

Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for over 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff. 

  

General Summary:

Requirements of this position include but are not limited to a high degree of pharmaceutical skills and practices (i.e. recordkeeping; identification, storage, and administration of medications; strong supervisory skills; exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with difficult individuals and situations), all with a high degree of organizational skills. This position is located at Ashland Avenue working inside the OTP dosing room.

It is expected and essential for all employees to meet their regular work schedule which may include rotation of shifts, weekends and holidays. To be qualified for this position employees must be able to work within our point system. Excessive absenteeism and/or tardiness will not be tolerated. (For more details refer to Policy 803 – Attendance Policy). All employees within this department will be required to learn all aspects of their position even when tasks/responsibilities are divided among staff member and/or shifts. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders
  • Dispenses medications by compounding, packing, and labeling pharmaceuticals
  • Comply with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed 
  • Communicate with all staff to ensure understanding of issues, changes, needs, etc., and appropriately coordinate the information.
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships with all area’s medical referral agencies.
  • Prepare and complete all required reports, projects, etc. assigned.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned.

Specific/Individual Competencies:

  • Knowledge and support of agency mission vision goals and philosophy as well as the policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to implement care within the framework and agency policy and procedure.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, CARF, the board of pharmacy rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge and ability to administer medication in accordance with physicians’ orders.
  • Ability to recognize inappropriate medications used by patients.
  • Knowledge of community resources, hospitals, community mental health services, and other appropriate referrals for use when indicated.
  • Knowledge of drugs of abuse and effects on body esp. during withdrawal.
  • Maintain dual knowledge of electronic and manual Methadone dosing.
  • Knowledge of the following computer programs Methasoft and possibly SmartCare or current E.H.R.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain licensure and provide documentation for personnel records.

Requirements

Position Qualifications: 

  • Must be a Licensed Pharmacist in good standing and have certification allowing the administration of medication.
  • Must have 3-5 years of pharmacy experience.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of addiction, detoxification and the recovery process.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and car insurance.
  • Must be able to function positively and effectively with patients, the Medical Director, and other staff members.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision is a must.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, accurate notes, and correspondence within the laws of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of the work.
  • Must be able to function in a changing environment effectively.
  • Must have the medical knowledge and experience to accomplish all assigned nursing responsibilities.
  • Must have the necessary skills and abilities required comfortably and effectively working with patients and being responsive to their mental/physical needs.
  • Ability to maintain licensure/credentials.
