· Under supervision of pharmacist, facilitate operation of unit dose distribution system including maintenance of patient profiles, filling of patient med boxes, accurate accounting of doses distributed and doses returned. Update patient medications as required and call attention to possible missed doses or irregularities.
· Must be able to perform under supervision such as compounding, packaging, weighing and preparation as required. Implement quality assurance policies.
· Order drugs daily from wholesaler as required for patient care according to current inventory control and cost control practices. Receive, label and shelve incoming order. Maintain database system for tracking outdated medications in all departments and remove outdated stock and order such replacements as needed monthly. Stock departments as required. Will order direct from such manufacturers as necessary. Will perform physical inventory once yearly on order entry device.
· Use and maintain pharmacy and ancillary software, including order entry, debit and credit entry, maintenance of formulary database, running essential lists and reports, reconciling charting and unit dose data with billing data, creating and updating forms with word processing programs and various other computer functions. Review and forward all invoices and statements to accounts payable. Price all non-formulary items for billing department. Will perform such miscellaneous duties as seem appropriate to free pharmacist for professional responsibilities. This may include answering phone and redirect calls when necessary, answering mail, updating reference books, filing and housekeeping, pickup up
LATITUDE:
The duties and accountabilities of the Pharmacy Technician position are clearly defined in this position description. The individual position occupying this position is accountable to the Director of Pharmacy for supervision, technical and professional guidance. Any problems or concerns regarding latitude of this position should be directed to the Director of Pharmacy.
CHALLENGES:
The major challenge of this position is to supply appropriate support services for the pharmacist which enables them to provide a smooth running pharmacy service. The individual must be exceptionally well organized, be observant as to what needs to be done and when.
CONTACTS:
Beside the Pharmacy Technician Level A having a close working relationship with the department's pharmacists, this individual will also have a working relationship with Nursing, Purchasing and Administration
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimal education and knowledge includes: High school education or equivalent, current Washington State Pharmacy Assistant A license, experience and proficiency in hospital pharmacy as approved and documented by the Director of Pharmacy and the State Board of Pharmacy. Multiphase experience preferable.

10. Be familiar with the collective bargaining agreement (Union Contract) of the UFCW 21 and Mid-Valley Hospital.
11. Demonstrates the ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The position is a staff level position operating within the parameters established by this position. Under supervision of the pharmacist, is accountable for those duties, performed in the Pharmacy, which does require technical training and professional judgment, and does require formal Pharmacy Technician Level A training or a degree of on-the-job training.
ENVIRONMENT:
Mid-Valley Hospital is a rural 44 bed acute care facility located in North Central Washington, specifically in Okanogan County and the town of Omak. The Pharmacy Technician performs functions that support the pharmacist in carrying out activities required for provision of pharmacy services throughout the hospital. The working environment is generally pleasant, requiring walking and standing a good portion of the day.
WAGE AND COMPENSATION
Wage range $ 18.48 hr. - $ 27.33 hr. – DOE
Mid-Valley Hospital offers a benefit package. This includes accrued vacation time in the amount of .076923 vacation hours per hour worked. Accrued sick leave at an accrual of .04615 per hour, Life insurance and a profit-sharing plan. We also offer medical, dental and vision insurance plans.
