Position Summary

Jowonio School is seeking a part-time Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide direct physical therapy services to preschool-aged children in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The PTA works under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist, supporting children’s gross motor development in both therapy and classroom settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct therapy sessions per students’ IEPs (~25 sessions/week).


• Monitor progress and collaborate on skill evaluations.


• Maintain accurate documentation, including daily notes and letters of justification.


• Collaborate with teachers, families, and other therapists to ensure coordinated support.


• Fit and maintain adaptive equipment.


• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a transdisciplinary approach.

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of New York (Required)


• Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Required)


• Experience in pediatric or preschool settings preferred


• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills


• Ability to maintain a consistent part-time schedule across three weekdays


• Commitment to inclusive, child-centered therapy practices

Compensation and Schedule

• Pay: $25.43 per hour


• Schedule: Three weekdays/week (Monday–Friday); up to 60% FTE


• Compensation is based on a structured scale and is non-negotiable
