Job Description - Physical Therapy Assistant

Position Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
Location: Flexible / In-home, clinic, or outpatient settings (based on local regulations and client needs)
Company: From Pain to Resilience

About From Pain to Resilience
From Pain to Resilience is dedicated to helping individuals overcome activity-limiting pain and mobility restrictions with expert clinical reasoning, advanced manual therapy techniques, and precise, personalized exercise plans. Our mission is to build resiliency through movement, alleviating pain and empowering clients to return to the activities they love.

Role Overview

As a 1099 Physical Therapy Assistant, you will deliver hands-on therapy and support under the clinical oversight of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT). Your role includes guiding clients through treatment plans, tracking progress, and providing compassionate, high-quality care—all aligned with our firm's patient-centered, resilience-based model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support patients in performing therapeutic exercises and manual therapy interventions as prescribed by the supervising PT.

  • Assist in treating conditions typical of our practice, such as back, neck, shoulder, hip/knee/ankle pain, post-surgical rehab, work-related or auto injuries, fitness and sports recovery, and fall prevention.

  • Monitor patient responses to treatments, document progress, and share observations with the supervising PT for care plan adjustments.

  • Prepare and maintain therapy areas, ensure equipment is functional, and help with treatment setup and breakdown.

  • Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, self-management strategies, and movement safety principles. Reflect Resilience’s philosophy by empowering patients to develop long-term resiliency.

  • Maintain accurate patient records (progress notes, session documentation) for clinical and billing purposes.

  • Communicate regularly with the supervising PT to discuss treatment progression, challenges, and patient feedback.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited PTA (Physical Therapist Assistant) program (Associate’s degree or equivalent). Licensure or certification according to your state’s requirements required.

  • Strong foundational skills in therapeutic techniques, manual therapy, stretching, balance exercises, and use of standard PT equipment.

  • Empathy-driven approach—committed to patient-centered, resilience-building care.

  • Demonstrated physical stamina to work in active treatment environments and assist clients through exercises and mobility interventions.

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail in both patient interaction and documentation.

  • Self-motivated, able to coordinate independently with the supervising PT as a contractor, and adapt to varied client environments.

Contract Details & Logistics

  • Employment Status: Independent Contractor (1099).

  • Hours & Flexibility: Schedule aligned to client bookings; variable based on caseload, with potential for in-home or clinic visits.

  • Compensation: Competitive hourly or per-session rates (negotiable based on experience).

  • Documentation: Responsible for maintaining invoicing, treatment logs, and any required administrative paperwork.

  • Compliance: Maintain professional liability insurance and ensure adherence to state-specific regulations for PTAs.

Why Join From Pain to Resilience?

  • Join a mission-driven practice dedicated to personalized, high-impact care and sustainable patient outcomes.

  • Work in a model that values depth over speed—longer, focused one-on-one sessions designed to foster resiliency and lasting improvement.

  • Flexible, client-centered delivery setting—work within your preferred environments (e.g., clinics, mobile care, outpatient settings).

  • Opportunity to grow professionally in a progressive model of physical therapy that encourages continued learning and autonomy.
