Job Description - Pre-K3 Teacher



Part-time


Description

We are seeking a nurturing and faith-filled part-time Pre-K3 Teacher to lead our youngest learners in a classroom environment rooted in joy, order, and early formation in virtue. The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to the Catholic faith, delight in working with young children, and embrace the formative power of a classical approach to early childhood education.

This position focuses on supporting the natural wonder and development of young children through structured play, rich language, liturgical rhythms, and loving guidance.


Requirements

Curriculum & Instruction

  •  Provide developmentally appropriate instruction rooted in classical principles and Catholic values.
  •  Foster early literacy, numeracy, fine motor skills, and language development through songs, stories, movement, and hands-on activities.
  •  Introduce students to beauty, order, and virtue through stories, poetry, music, art, and nature study.
  •  Gently guide children in memory work, prayer, and liturgical life appropriate to their age and stage.

Classroom Culture

  •  Create a warm, structured, and joyful classroom that reflects the dignity of each child as a beloved child of God.
  •  Promote habits of attentiveness, obedience, kindness, and gratitude through loving discipline and clear routines.
  •  Establish a peaceful, sensory-rich environment that supports learning through wonder and imitation.

Student Formation

  •  Support the moral and spiritual formation of each child in cooperation with parents and the Church.
  •  Integrate prayer, Scripture, and the liturgical year into the daily rhythm of the classroom.
  •  Model Christ-like behavior and joy in service to young children.

Assessment & Communication

  •  Observe and document developmental progress in key areas of growth.
  •  Communicate regularly with parents about classroom routines, student behavior, and milestones.
  •  Collaborate with aides and support staff to ensure consistent care and instruction.

Professional Growth

  •  Attend faculty meetings, school Masses, and relevant professional development opportunities.
  •  Grow in understanding of classical early childhood education and Catholic pedagogy.

Education & Experience

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (Associate’s degree or CDA considered with relevant experience).
  •  Experience in early childhood teaching, preferably in a Catholic or classical school.
  •  Familiarity with child development and age-appropriate classroom strategies.

Skills & Dispositions

  •  Deep love and respect for young children and a calling to teach.
  •  Practicing Christian with a joyful witness to the faith. Gentle, consistent classroom management grounded in virtue and love.
  •  Strong communication and collaboration skills with colleagues and parents.

Preferred

  •  Familiarity with classical education in the early years (e.g., Charlotte Mason, Montessori-inspired classical methods).
  •  Willingness to be trained in classical approaches and participate in a liturgical school life.

Physical Demands

The role involves standing, walking, sitting on the floor, lifting young children (up to 40 lbs), and supporting hands-on learning activities. Reasonable accommodations will be made as needed.
