Preschool Enrichment Spanish Instructor (Part-Time)

Job Summary:  

Under the direction of the Early Childhood Assistant Director, the Preschool Enrichment Spanish teacher is responsible for leading a one-hour Spanish Enrichment course. 

This is a part-time, hourly position scheduled Monday through Friday from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The daily schedule includes one hour of teaching the Spanish curriculum, one hour assisting with interactive play, and one hour designated for preparation and clean-up.

Compensation will be determined based on experience, performance evaluation, and the recommendation of the Early Childhood Director.

Qualifications: 

• Must be at least 19 years old.


• High school diploma or equivalent required.


• First Aid/CPR/ AED certification within the first six (6) months of hire. 


• All employees must pass a criminal background check, which will be covered by the Glencoe Park District. 

Required Knowledge:

• A strong understanding and working knowledge of early childhood practices is required.


• Fluency in speaking, writing, and teaching in Spanish is also essential.

Required Skills:

• Must be dependable and flexible, with good safety awareness and sound judgment. 


• Must be able to understand and follow rules and instructions. 


• Must have the ability to read, write, and organize material. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain good personal hygiene and a professional appearance at all times.


• Adhere to all policies and procedures of both the department and of the Glencoe Park District.


• Implement Preschool Spanish lesson plans with the provided curriculum. 


• Take responsibility for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment, including equipment and shared facilities.


• Support children in developing good toileting and personal hygiene habits.


• Supervise all classroom and outdoor activities to ensure the safety and well-being of all children.


• Engage with children in a warm, responsive, and developmentally appropriate manner throughout the day.


• Communicate at the child’s level by speaking at eye level, sitting on the floor during group activities, and actively participating in free play and large motor activities.


• Guide and assist children with clean-up and classroom organization routines.


• Accurately complete incident and accident reports as needed.


• Maintain an inventory of classroom equipment and supplies and report any needs or concerns to the Program Supervisor.


• Participate in professional development opportunities to support growth in early childhood education.


• Maintain punctuality and notify the Children’s Circle Assistant Director promptly in case of illness or absence.


• Communicate daily with families using the BrightWheel app, including updates on lesson plans, program goals, and individual participant progress.


• Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Hours: 

This is an hourly part-time position, and scheduled Monday-Friday (12:30 PM- 3:30 PM). Due to the very nature of park district programming, evening, weekend, and some holiday hours may be expected.  Enrichment teachers will predominantly work afternoons.

Pay Scale:

This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. The intended starting pay for this position is $22 per hour, with a full pay scale ranging from $20 per hour to $30 per hour.

Final compensation will be determined in good faith based on an evaluation of the candidate's qualifications, experience, and the recommendation of the Children Circle Assistant Director, or the Children Circle Director.
