YOUR ROLE

As a Preschool After School Teacher you will engage with students during our After School program. This position collaborates with others to administer an engaging, safe, and fun After School Program for preschool-aged children, ages 1-5. We are a close-knit team, and value initiative, flexibility, and a can- do approach.

ABOUT US

NYC's first trilingual Montessori program, located in Battery Park City, offers Spanish and Mandarin language exposure. Our Montessori-trained teachers nurture each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, academic, and physical needs, fostering independence, natural curiosity, and problem-solving abilities.

ABOUT YOU

• You love working with children: You enjoy supporting student learning and are confident working with mixed age groups (1 to 5 years old)
• You are passionate about the program: You are excited to work in a preschool setting and know to always put the students’ needs and program first
• You are a people person: You are warm, courteous, and professional with children, families and caregivers
• You love being part of a team: You support your co-workers by being responsible, punctual, flexible and willing to help others as needed
• You are a Native Speaker of Mandarin or Spanish (Optional): Our program is trilingual, and we are looking for counselors who speak Spanish or Mandarin to provide language immersion for students

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Supervise and care of the children’s daily needs (including assistance with bathrooming for young children)
• Implement the daily schedule
• Prepare and organize classroom materials
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students at all times
• Lead group activities indoors
• Undergo job-specific training
• Supervise dismissal & arrival
• Supervise snack times

Requirements

• 1 year experience working with children ages 1-5 in a group setting (eg. classroom, camp, enrichment classes)
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• (Optional) Fluent in Spanish or Mandarin
• Montessori experience a plus
