Preschool Music Teacher

We are a Christian, play-based preschool dedicated to nurturing young children's hearts, minds, and spirits. We offer a warm, loving, and developmentally appropriate environment where each child is valued as a unique creation of God. Music is an essential part of our curriculum and community life. 

We seek a joyful, engaging, and reliable Preschool Music Teacher to lead age-appropriate music classes for children ages 2–5. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education and music and able to create a fun and interactive experience that encourages children’s creativity, expression, and love of music. 

The position will be September 2025 through May 2026. We loosely follow the AISD school calendar.

Ministerial Character

The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish of St. Catherine of Siena Church which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Positions employed at St. Catherine of Siena Church help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead music and movement classes for preschool-aged children in small group settings.
• Incorporate songs, instruments, rhythm, and movement into each class.
• When applicable, support classroom themes or seasonal events (e.g., holidays, special programs).
• Collaborate with the director and teaching staff to align music activities with the preschool’s mission and curriculum.
• Maintain a safe and welcoming environment during music sessions.
• As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. Catherine of Siena Church in both your professional and personal life.
• Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.

Qualifications:

• Experience teaching music to young children (ages 2–5) in a school or group setting.
• Musical ability (singing, rhythm instruments, basic guitar or keyboard a plus).
• Energetic, kind, and patient demeanor.
• Strong classroom management skills with a positive and loving approach.
• Must pass a background check and meet licensing requirements for working in a preschool setting.
• Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.

Preferred:

• Degree or coursework in Music, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Christian or faith-based environments. 

Compensation:
Hourly rate based on experience.
