Position Available: Assistant Teacher
Monday-Friday: 8am-1pm or 8am-4pm
Position Details:
The person who fills this position will be for our Tot Room ages 2-3. Must demonstrate a strong commitment to respect for and care of children.Teachers at our school are entrusted with important responsibilities, and must be dedicated to serving children in all aspects of learning and development.
Responsibilities for the position include:
- working with children as they engage in a variety of learning activities
- maintaining the order, cleanliness, and attractiveness of the environment
- attending monthly staff meetings and occasional school events outside of regular hours
The ideal candidate will:
- have experience working in an early childhood setting or related field preferred
- have knowledge of or interest in learning about the Montessori philosophy
- possess strong organizational skills
- be flexible and adaptable
- enjoy a cooperative working environment
- have a great sense of humor

A Village Green Montessori School, located in downtown Libertyville, was founded by resident Ann Phillips. Ann is an experienced Montessori directress certified by the American Montessori Society. She began teaching at Highland Park Montessori (owned by her sister) in 1998. A Village Green Montessori is affiliated with the American Montessori Society, and is registered with the Illinois Department of Education and the Illinois Association of Montessori Schools. The school serves children ages two to six and includes a kindergarten program.
The purpose of A Village Green Montessori is to guide children in becoming creative and capable individuals who are fully aware of themselves, others, and the world around them. Additional goals include developing children’s self-motivation, persistence, concentration, self-discipline, and self-esteem. We have created a school where children can truly be themselves in an atmosphere of freedom and responsibility.
