Job Summary:
The CCA Teacher insures that students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter which will contribute to their overall development as mature, able and responsible Christians.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare daily lessons and activities in advance and have all material ready for each day
• Plan and prepare the learning environment, setting up centers and preparing needed materials and supplies
• Prepare for Parent Conferences two times per year and as needed
• Supervise the classroom, restroom, playground, or on school-related field trips (1 Peter 5:2-3)
• Maintain a peaceful classroom environment while keeping it neat and orderly (1 Corinthians 14:33)
• Teach lessons using age-appropriate activities
• Greet children and parents at the door every morning
• Change classroom books as needed to match current themes
• Use current items to decorate classroom walls and hallway bulletin boards
• Collect a minimum of two items per child monthly and file in individual portfolios
• Communicate effectively with parents and students (Colossians 4:6)
• Attend Christmas Program, Open House, as well as other after hour events as needed
• Performing some clerical tasks such as taking attendance, making copies, distributing classroom-related materials, maintaining classroom student files (2 Corinthians 9:8)
• Attend devotions consistently
• Earn a minimum of 10 Continuing Education hours per school year
• Keep all students, parents, staff personal and medical information confidential (Proverbs 11:13)
• Be familiar with emergency protocols
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor (Colossians 3:23)
Job Skills and Competencies:
• Education Level – Associate’s Degree preferred
• Social perceptiveness—being aware of diverse personalities and having Godly discernment to react and respond to situations as needed (Philippians 2:4)
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Other Qualifications:
• Regular attendance at a local Bible-believing church
• Keep the ministry in the forefront of all you do, with a servant heart and optimistic attitude (Philippians 2:3)
• Conduct yourself in a manner that reinforces the core values and mission of Calvary Chapel and agree to our Statement of Faith
• Function as a productive part of the church staff and attend staff meetings in coordination with direct supervisor (1 Peter 4:10)
• Demonstrate a mature, ongoing personal relationship with Jesus through spiritual and moral integrity
• Strong commitment to the vision and mission of Calvary Chapel Melbourne
• Fruit of the Spirit is consistently displayed in your life, as a reflection of God’s love to colleagues and visitors (Galatians 5:22-23)
