Patient Care Technician - ICU

PRN; Shift Varies

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs designated/delegated tasks in the provision of care for patients under the direction and supervision of a nurse.

• Assists patients with personal hygiene, including as showering, bathing, shaving, shampooing, perianal-care, catheter care and oral care.

• Takes and records vital signs accurately within established time frame.

• Collects specimens according to policy.

• Collects blood glucose according to policy.

• Will complete ECG training with dysrhythmia recognition during orientation. Must recognize life-threatening dysrhythmias and notify primary care giver of abnormal readings.

• Performs cross-training as EKG Tech.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Recent nursing assistant training with six months or more experience.

• Prior Phlebotomy training or experience preferred.
