Produce Associate - Part Time

Description

The Produce Associate is responsible for maintaining the quality, freshness, and presentation of fruits and vegetables in the store’s produce department. This role involves stocking, rotating, and handling produce with care while providing excellent customer service to shoppers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about fresh food.

Key Responsibilities:

• Stock & Rotate Produce: Ensure shelves and displays are fully stocked, properly rotated, and visually appealing.
• Quality Control: Inspect produce for freshness, remove damaged items, and maintain high-quality standards.
• Customer Assistance: Provide friendly and knowledgeable service, answering questions about produce selection, storage, and preparation.
• Sanitation & Safety: Follow food safety guidelines, clean work areas, and maintain department hygiene.
• Inventory Management: Assist with receiving shipments, unpacking deliveries, and keeping track of stock levels.
• Merchandising: Set up attractive displays and promotional signage to enhance the shopping experience.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other store associates and managers to ensure smooth department operations.

Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent 

· Previous experience in retail, grocery, or food handling is a plus but not required.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

· Excellent customer service and communication skills.

· Basic knowledge of fruits, vegetables, and food safety practices.

Physical Requirements:

• Strength: Capable of lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds with ease.
• Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while maintaining focus.
• Manual Dexterity: Skilled in both fine and gross motor tasks
• Vision: Peripheral and near/far visual accuracy to ensure quality and safety.
• Hearing: Able to hear and respond effectively to instructions and customer needs.
• Flexibility/Mobility: Able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and move fluidly in a busy environment.
• Environmental Tolerance: Comfortable working in cooler temperatures and with cleaning agents.
• Allergy Tolerance: Able to handle a variety of fresh ingredients without adverse reactions.
• Step-Stool/Ladder Use: Confidently use step-stools and ladders as needed.
• Physical Balance: Maintain stability while handling tasks with care.
• Communication: Clear and effective in conveying instructions and working with the team.
• Reaching: Capable of reaching below waist, at waist, and overhead to access and manage products and equipment.
