Job Description - Program Support Specialist

Job Title: Program Support Specialist 

Location: Works out of Piedmont office, supporting all program locations  

Schedule: Part-Time | 29 hours/week 

Typical Work Hours: Mon–Wed, Friday 

Start Date: August 2025 

Reports To: Director of Youth Programming

In this role, you'll collaborate across departments to design and lead engaging activities, support program logistics, and ensure smooth on-the-ground execution at multiple sites. Position Overview 


The Program Support Specialist plays a cross-functional role that supports the planning, implementation, and execution of various LaAmistad programs. 


While a key responsibility involves helping to design and deliver enrichment curriculum for the afterschool program, this role goes beyond curriculum by providing logistical, administrative, and on-site support where needed across the organization. This position is ideal for someone interested in contributing to impactful programming while gaining firsthand insight into nonprofit strategy, program development, and community-based operations. 


 


Key Responsibilities 



  • Collaborate with the afterschool academic team to develop enrichment curriculum and activities appropriate for a range of age groups. 



  • Provide rotating and as-needed support for all LaAmistad programs, including ESL, Alumni, Adult Education, Afterschool, and Birth to Five. 



  • Conduct weekly site visits to multiple program locations to build rapport with staff, volunteers, and participants and ensure consistent quality and delivery. 



  • Assist with material preparation and logistical support for events and ongoing programming. 



  • Attend and participate in weekly and monthly team meetings to contribute ideas and feedback on program improvement and alignment with LaAmistad’s mission. 



  • Engage in opportunities to observe and learn about nonprofit operations, funding strategies, and community impact efforts in collaboration with the directors of the organization and the development team. 


 


Duties 



  • Provide hands-on support to program staff and volunteers at multiple sites. 



  • Attend and contribute to training sessions, planning meetings, and professional development activities. 



  • Perform administrative tasks such as inventory management, attendance tracking, and documentation. 



  • Maintain strong communication with
    manager and other team members. 
     



  • Provide additional on-site and office support as needed.  



  • Lift and transport materials up to 30 lbs. and remain physically active throughout the workday. 


 


Qualifications 



  • B.S. degree in education, social work, nonprofit management, or a related field  



  • At least one year of experience working with children, youth, or families in an educational or community setting 



  • At least one year of experience handling administrative or program support responsibilities 



  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) 



  • Passion for service and a commitment to community engagement 



  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills 



  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams 



  • Fluent in Spanish preferred but not  



  • Experience working with the LatinX community preferred
