Projectionist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Projectionist is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all film and digital media presentations at Alamo Drafthouse. This includes managing projectors, sound systems, and other audiovisual equipment to deliver the highest-quality cinematic experience to our guests. As a key member of the operations team, the Projectionist ensures that all shows run on time, without technical disruptions, and provides support for any troubleshooting as needed.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Anticipating the needs of future events and PCE’s to ensure that all technical needs are covered.

• Ingesting DCP content and KDM’s to servers and projectors.

• Downloading and organizing in-house content via FTP

• Deletion of old content from Library Server and Projectors

• Creating accurate playlists for DCP content according to set assignments.

• Allocating or title mapping playlists according to the theater schedule.

• Working with management and event coordinators to assure successful events.

• Set-up and operation of various audio/visual equipment, including sound mixers, microphones, stage lights, video projectors, etc.

• Keeping track of incoming and outgoing films and content.

• Returning prints/hard drives and other media in a prompt manner.

• Storage and organization of A/V equipment and Projection supplies.

• Occasional transport of film prints, equipment, and show materials to FedEx/UPS.

• Maintain clean equipment and work area.

• Respond to all emails and communications with team members and clients in a professional and prompt manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working knowledge of digital projection systems and TMS

• Detail-oriented

• Organized

• Able to work efficiently without direct supervision

• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

• Willingness to work unusual work hours (lots of evenings and weekends)

BONUS SKILLS:

• Comprehensive knowledge of 35mm projection systems

• Threading and operating 35mm platter and changeover systems.

• Building, inspecting, and cueing 35mm prints for presentation.

• Inspecting and repairing 35mm archive prints.

• Strong computer background.

• Knowledge of other media formats, such as HDcam, Beta, 16mm, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work is typically performed in the venue. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work involves a majority of standing, bending, stooping, twisting, climbing and some lifting up to 50lbs
