Job Description - Ramp Kids Director

POSITION SUMMARY 



The Ramp Kids Director is responsible for all aspects of ensuring the spiritual growth and development of children ages 5 through 5th grade. This includes curriculum selection, volunteer recruitment and development, service management, and operational management necessary to ensure successful, continuously improving children’s services and periodic special events.


 


FUNCTIONS 


The Ramp Kids Director for elementary school ages, plans and leads ministry programs, including Wednesday and Sunday night services, seasonal events, special trips, local outreaches, etc. This also includes child and family counseling, administrative work, social media communications, managing the Ramp Kids database, and family ministry. 


 


Essential Functions: 



  • Lead a team of volunteers in the operation of a children’s ministry, including weekend services and periodic special events.

  • Regularly select and/or develop curriculum for a children’s ministry. 

  • Implement children’s registration, classroom management, and security policies/practices in support of services and periodic special events.

  • Direct the recruitment, training, and development of volunteers as needed to staff children’s ministry classrooms and special events.

  • Cast vision for and program the church’s annual children’s outreach events including music selection, development of messages/teaching, and utilization of games and other artistic elements in the inspiration of children in learning about God.

  • Design and plan periodic child events in services as required, meeting the needs and expectations of families attending the church.

  • Lead the creative use and proactive upkeep of children’s ministry facilities and grounds.

  • Assist in the development of an annual budget for children’s ministries and manage spending to budget.

  • Function as a member of Ramp Church Staff for all meetings, events, services, etc. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS



  • Ability to communicate the Gospel through various means to children at various ages.

  • Leadership background and experience serving with kids. Heart for children and parents.

  • Proven ability to lead staff and Serve Team.

  • Project management experience.

  • Ability to articulate and implement the vision of the Ramp.

  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.

  • Superior interpersonal skills working with a variety of people from Serve Team

  • members to parents to kids.

  • Solid theological grounding and creativity in kids’ ministry curriculum

  • development.

  • Positive attitude and positive approach to problem solving. Must be solution

  • oriented.

  • Computer competency and/or ability to learn quickly in CCB, Planning Center,

  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) etc.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills and pursuit of excellence

  • through attention to detail.

  • The ability to forecast and plan for continued growth.



SKILLS & ABILITIES 



Education: High School diploma or GED.



Experience and Skills: This position requires a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience as a staff member in a children’s ministry or leadership capacity. Possession of a teaching or related degree is a plus. (Extensive ministry experience, in some cases, can be substituted.) The successful individual will be a strong leader with a solid work ethic, possess a passion for teaching children about God, and have the ability to administrate as a department head. Working knowledge of creative programming related to children’s classes and special events is a real plus.
