Reading Resource Teacher - Part Time

St. Peter Catholic School, in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, MO, is seeking a dedicated Reading Resource Teacher to foster learning and inspire a love for literature in students. The Reading Resource Teacher’s responsibilities will include preparing engaging lesson plans, assessing individual learning styles and providing personalized instruction, and tracking student progress. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator with a strong understanding of various reading strategies and techniques. The Reading Resource Teacher should have excellent communication skills, a patient demeanor, and a passion for promoting literacy. This position is part time, based on a three (3) day, 24-hour work week and reports to the principal.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that foster a love for reading
• Implement various teaching methods to accommodate all learning styles
• Assess student performance through tests, quizzes, and individual evaluation
• Provide one-on-one or group instruction to enhance individual learning experiences
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administration to support student educational goals
• Stay updated with latest teaching resources and methods
• Attend professional development workshops and conferences
• Encourage classroom participation and facilitate interactive learning
• Establish a positive, stimulating, and inclusive educational environment

• In-depth knowledge of various reading strategies and teaching methods (Orton Gillingham)

• Knowledge of and ability to use appropriate education technologies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant field is required
• State teaching certification is preferred
• Proven experience as a Reading Teacher or similar role
