Job Description - Receptionist

Job Summary:


This position supports the mission and vision of Mountain Springs Church (MSC) by welcoming guests and being the first impression of the church. The ideal candidate will be detail-focused, able to handle multiple ongoing tasks, people-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and have a high level of discernment. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise clear judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Receptionist must be able to work under pressure to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.


 


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Manage all forms of correspondence including voice mail, e-mail, and regular mail

  • Accomplish office duties to include, but not limited to, answering phone calls, checking in visitors, directing those in need to resources, and providing exceptional customer service with hospitality and kindness

  • Interact with other departments to include, but not limited to, ordering office supplies as needed and supplemental administrative assistance

  • Assist Facilities Director with phone calls, obtaining estimates, and other administrative tasks as requested

  • Stamp and distribute mail daily

  • Understand the process of benevolence and distribute forms as needed

  • Discern and transfer emergency ministry calls to the Care Leader on Call

  • Discern and distribute gas/food cards to those in need

  • Maintain guest coffee area

  • Perform other duties as assigned


 


Minimum Qualifications:


High School Diploma or equivalent


Knowledgeable with email, familiar with basic computer operation

  • Developed and honed communication skills and interpersonal awareness

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize decisions under stress

  • Sensitive and skilled in dealing with differing behaviors, feelings and values

  • Appropriate awareness of privacy of sensitive and confidential information

  • Enjoy working collaboratively with a staff team

  • Recognizes own limits and embraces the expertise of other staff

  • Ability to work with Data Base Administration


 


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions



  • Adequate transportation to complete job responsibilities in a timely manner

  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking/sitting

  • Manual dexterity and mobility

  • Visual and auditory acuity

  • Ability to lift, push, pull 30 pounds

  • Exposed to a variety of electromechanical hazards

  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations


 


MSC Staff Expectations and Standards



  • Attendance and punctuality consistent with job requirements

  • Appearance appropriate for task per agency and department dress code

  • Standard of conduct according to MSC Conduct Code

  • Adherence to MSC Personnel Guidelines

  • Regularly attend scheduled/assigned staff meeting and MSC worship services

  • Uses resources in a cost-effective manner

  • Operates needed equipment efficiently and effectively

  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with all employees
