Cascade Prosthetics and Orthotics is a family-owned clinic with locations in Mt Vernon and Ferndale, Washington that specializes in the O & P needs of pediatric and adult patients. We are a caring, compassionate team whose primary focus is to understand the needs of our patients and create an experience that exceeds expectations. 

We are currently looking to fill a part-time Medical Receptionist/Insurance and Billing Specialist for our Mt Vernon Clinic.

This position works 24 hours per week, Wednesday-Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm

The Receptionist/Insurance and Billing Specialist plays a pivotal role at Cascade Prosthetics and Orthotics by creating a welcoming environment for our patients as well as performing insurance authorizations and processing our medical billing claims accurately and timely. This role requires attention to detail, accuracy, excellent time management and a high degree of confidentiality.

  • Proficient in MS Office programs and ability to learn company specific computer programs
  • A minimum of 1 year insurance verification or medical billing experience
  • Experience using Nymbl software preferred
  • A minimum of 1 year reception, scheduling, or customer service experience
  • Must be able to communicate in English, verbal and written. Additional languages a plus

 Our Receptionist/Insurance and Billing Specialist’s responsibilities include:

  • Manage the scheduling of patient appointments for multiple practitioners 
  • Answer incoming calls: assisting or directing as needed
  • Make outgoing calls/communications including patient appointment reminders, patient satisfaction surveys, notification of benefit coverage, and scheduling follow-up appointments
  • Work with drop in patients to assess their needs and coordinate care 
  • Collect necessary documents and notes from physician and practitioner for patient billing
  • Collect and apply co-pays or patient balances by phone, via mail, or in person
  • Enter and maintain accurate patient and order information in billing software, scanning and storing documents as needed
  • Collect necessary patient demographics and contracted insurance/payer information
  • Obtain insurance verification, referrals, prescriptions, and necessary pre-authorizations
  • Ensure the complete and accurate electronic medical record file for each patient
  • Submits billing claims to a variety of payment sources including private insurance, state and federal Medicare/Medicaid programs, and other payers
  • Responsible for accurate electronic claim data such as authorizations, product and diagnosis codes
  • Responsible for the opening and closing of clinic
  • May perform accounts receivable duties including post payments, manage collections, handle denials, balance daily receipts, approve refunds, prepare deposits, process patient statements, and respond to audits
  • May be responsible for handling the clinic’s shipping/receiving and inventory
  • May perform routine billing close operations

  • Competitive Wages: Our starting wage for this position is $22.30-$23.30 per hour, DOE. Full wage scale is $21.16-$26.18 per hour
