Recreation Supervisor- Basketball (Part-Time)

RECREATION SUPERVISOR- BASKETBALL (Part-Time)

Reports To:  Program Manager

Gives Direction To:  Youth Basketball Coaches, Referees and Volunteers 

NATURE OF WORK

This technical support position provides support to the Program Manager for recreation activities.  Assists the Program Manager with seasonal programs. Variable part-time hours with some flexibility. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Plan, coordinate and implement all aspects of the youth basketball programs.


• Assist with monthly senior luncheons including set up, break down and clean up.


• Assist with coordination of volunteer program.  Includes maintaining a database and tracking clearances for all coaches.


• Assist with special events as assigned.


• Make up teams and assign coaches utilizing the registration software.


• Generate weekly practice and game schedules. 


• Oversee the care, maintenance and inventory of basketball equipment and supplies.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

• Performs all other work as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Clear understanding of recreational department activities and procedures.


• Interpersonal skills


• Familiarity with athletics including league scheduling


• Availability to work evenings/weekends as necessary.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or G.E.D.


• Experience with recreational sports programming or as an athletics coach.


• Must be over 18. 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand: walk, bend, stoop; use hands to handle or feel equipment and supplies.  The employee will need to be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 3 hours.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move supplies and equipment up to 25 pounds.  Requires normal range of hearing, eyesight and verbal communications to record, prepare and communicate to parents, coaches and the general public.
